Work begins on the first new Caerphilly Council homes

Llanmoor Homes has begun work on an exciting new development of the first Council-owned homes in the Caerphilly county borough for 18 years.

Being built at Bedwellty Field, Aberbargoed, the 55 property development will include 6 social rent homes, owned and managed by Caerphilly County Borough Council, as well as 2 low-cost home ownership properties – perfect opportunities for first-time buyers.

Through a Section 106 agreement with the Council, we are developing affordable homes on the site, aiming to bring benefits to the local community as a result. Plans also include the creation of open space, preserving a number of existing trees and constructing a local play area.

Cllr Philippa Marsden, Leader of Caerphilly Council, commented on the development, saying: “This is a significant milestone for us in delivering on our commitment to begin a programme of new Council house building in the county borough. We’re grateful to Llanmoor for working in partnership with us to deliver these new, high-quality Council homes that will help with our programme of development to meet the local demand for affordable housing. I look forward to visiting the site again to see building work progress and to welcome the first families who will call these properties ‘home’.”

With such a historic project getting underway, Tim Grey, Sales Director here at Llanmoor Homes, expressed how thrilled he is to be involved in the development and how well it aligns with our values: ”We strive to build thriving communities with high-quality homes available to everyone. I am proud to say that the company has experienced great success over the past 45 years bringing award-winning, family homes to the Caerphilly county borough.”

On Llanmoor’s agreement with the Caerphilly Borough Council, he added: “Whilst we have been working with numerous Registered Social Landlords at our developments for some years, this will be the first time that we are building Affordable homes for direct sale to Caerphilly Borough Council themselves. We look forward to continuing to play our part in meeting the continued demand.”

Despite a difficult year due to the pandemic, we look forward to continuing to share news of our Bedwellty Field development – we’ll keep you updated each step of the way!
