Shauna Blake appointed as Land and Planning Assistant
05-Feb-2021

Shauna Blake has been promoted to assist our land and planning team as we continue to create sustainable communities across South Wales.
Shauna joined Llanmoor Homes in 2016 as Receptionist at Head Office and has been at the forefront of delivering high-quality customer service to our homebuyers over the past five years. Encouraged and supported by Llanmoor, Shauna is now in the second year of her part-time course ‘Construction & the Built Environment’, which will enable her to work towards her Higher National Certificate (HNC) and possibly even a Higher National Diploma (HND).
Nurturing young talent in this way and encouraging the professional development of individuals is one of several reasons why Llanmoor has so many long-serving members of staff.

“I cannot thank Llanmoor enough for the opportunities that they have given me,” says Shauna. “Within a couple of years of starting, my directors approached me with an opportunity of improving my skills and career by attending college, and allowing me to expand my knowledge on a different side of the business; land & planning. I researched for the best fitting course which would allow me to maintain my fulltime job and study part-time, one day a week.”
“I started college in September 2019 and I’m currently in my second year of my course – Construction and the Built Environment. It covers different aspects within the construction industry from finding the best land and investigating the ground conditions, to what building regulations are required, designing a structure in a CAD format to then putting all that into practice and setting out on site.”
“Simon, Tim and Matthew encourage me to contact and speak with other staff members on site to actually put what I learn at college into practice; I am looking forward to watching it be done in-person once a change in restrictions allows us to,” she added.
“At the end of 2020, I received a promotion and I am now part of the Land & Planning Department working alongside the team to bring together potential new sites. By attending college and also improving my knowledge base at work, I’m hoping to be able to take on a lot more responsibilities in this role soon.”
When asked about what she enjoys most working for Llanmoor, Shauna added: “100% the friendship! I actually enjoy going to work every day. Everyone cares about each other and genuinely asks how you are doing which is comforting especially during these uncertain times, if any colleague can help in work life or personal life they are all very willing.”
“The directors doors are always open for any problems you have or even just for a chat. The management is great, having directors that appreciate the work I do and always thank me for the hard work I’ve put in is always rewarding to hear.”
“The last year has inevitably been a difficult year for everyone. However, the huge support that Simon, Tim and Matthew have given myself and all the staff at Llanmoor has been fantastic.”
Tim Grey, our Sales Director, adds: “Shauna joined Llanmoor as a receptionist and has over the past 4 or so years proven that she is an exceptionally capable and valuable member of the Head Office team. Her enthusiasm to learn about the business and in particular more recently a desire to learn more about the land and planning aspects has resulted in our encouraging her to develop her experience, both by means of attending college and working alongside the existing team. We are delighted to have been able to give her the opportunity to further her career here at Llanmoor Homes.”
