Reflecting on a decade working for Llanmoor Homes
07-Jul-2021

Llanmoor Homes is celebrating its 55th year of trading this year and the company continues to go from strength to strength. We have many long-serving members of staff in all departments, from planning through to completion, and this year we want to celebrate their achievements.
This month we caught up with Maxine Erricer, Assistant Material Buyer who has been employed by Llanmoor Homes for 10 years.
How long have you worked for Llanmoor homes?
I have been working for Llanmoor Homes since 15th June 2011 – a decade! I had previously worked for a Chartered Surveying company as a secretary for 13 years before being made redundant.
I first applied for a Receptionist position at Llanmoor, I remember being extremely nervous – especially as it was Tim Grey, Sales Director of Llanmoor Homes who was interviewing me. But as soon as the interview began I felt at ease straight away. I was lucky enough to be employed by Llanmoor from thereon.
What have been the highlights? How has your career progressed?
I have been very fortunate to work with such a lovely group of people who I respect and admire both at Head Office and on-site. We all have very different skills that we bring to the company, but we are still able to work so well as a team after building such strong relationships with one another.
Learning about the building sector has been so interesting over the past 10 years of working here. I was promoted to Assistant Buyer around 5 years ago which is a role that I have found to be so rewarding. I work alongside our Chief Buyer, Christian, who has taught me so much.
During my time at Llanmoor, especially over the past 5 years, I have been able to create strong relationships with the merchants as well as co-workers. We also spend time together outside of work for social gatherings where we all get the chance to unwind and just have fun. Unfortunately, this has not been possible during the pandemic, but I look forward to a time when we can all get together and feel a sense of normality again.
By reflecting on how rewarding I find my job now and for the past 10 years, I think of how proud I am of my 18-year-old daughter and the young lady she has become since I began working at Llanmoor. She will be attending University this year and I hope that she is as lucky as I have been in finding a career that she loves.
How has it been working for Llanmoor during the last 12 months?
The past year has been a very daunting and challenging time for me, as I am sure it has been for everyone since the beginning of the pandemic. I was on furlough for 3 months at the start of lockdown, which understandably, was a very uncertain time. For the past 10 years I have routinely come into work and been in contact with work colleagues and friends. So, being at home all day and unable to work was really difficult.
I am grateful for the massive support I have had from Llanmoor, in particular the Directors. With their guidance, I have been able to do my job to the best of my ability and working from home now is like second nature to me.
What are you most looking forward to about the future with Llanmoor?
I look forward to many more years working for Llanmoor and seeing new developments commence like Tondu, Govilon and Llangyfelach. I feel very privileged to have found a job so enjoyable and rewarding and could not ask for better colleagues to work with.
