Llanmoor builds for the future
Welsh house builder Llanmoor Homes has announced a significant investment in both staff and machinery after their most successful period of sales for 5 years.
With the upturn of the housing market enabling Llanmoor to move forward massively with construction on both new and existing developments, the company has made its most significant recruitment drive for 7 years. The house builder has recently appointed 24 new staff members including a Trainee & full time Sales Negotiator, two Engineers, two new Site Managers and 18 ground workers, increasing their permanent employed members of staff by over 70%.
With sales numbers at the highest for 7 years and expected to continue, the family-run company has also invested over £300,000 in the purchase of several new pieces of plant, vehicles & machinery in order to increase efficiency on site and meet the increased demand for quality new homes from house hunters.
Llanmoor Homes is one of the only remaining large scale, privately owned house builders in South Wales. Established in 1966, Llanmoor Homes is directed from its headquarters in Talbot Green by brothers Simon, Tim & Matthew Grey, and is currently constructing new homes at a total of six developments.
Llanmoor has launched two new developments this year; Gerddi Pentref a new development of 93 homes in Coity, Bridgend and Bethesda Field a development of just 22 homes in Newport, the company’s first ever development in the area.
Mark Thomas, originally from Tonypandy, has recently been appointed as the Site Manager for Bethesda Field. Mark joins Llanmoor with 25 years of experience in the housebuilding industry, having originally begun his career as a carpenter before moving into management roles at an early age.
Mark said: “Having worked for another company for many years I was excited to make the move to Llanmoor. After working for a National company with offices across the UK, I was really attracted to working for a Welsh, family-run business. There is a great family culture at Llanmoor which it is a joy to be a part of.
“Llanmoor’s homes are of an exceptional quality and so I am very happy to support the great product that they offer. This is an exciting time for Llanmoor and I am very happy to be a part of the company and hope I can help Llanmoor continue to grow.”
Tim Grey, Sales Director of Llanmoor Homes said: “This is the largest number of new employees we have taken on for many years. If the market continues to show sustained recovery then we will look to increase this number further. Housebuilding is a very long process and requires a lot of forward planning, so it is very important that we anticipate market changes and invest in people and machinery now so that we can continue to grow as the market improves.
“The improvement of the housing market and the introduction of Help to Buy Wales in January have enabled us to branch out and begin construction in new areas of South Wales, such as into Newport with Bethesda Field.
“Furthermore, this improvement also has a ripple effect which expands further than our own team. We always look to use local suppliers whenever possible and an increase in our sales means that we are able to buy more from them, thereby increasing their profits and creating even more jobs for people in Wales.”
