Interview the designer – Tracey Grey
We are a family run business, based in South Wales, known for our high-quality builds and unbeatable service. Tracey said: “Visitors to the developments often comment on the very high standards of finish when compared to many other home builders, and of course the friendly and professional customer service.
At each development, spanning from Caerphilly to Margam, Tracey typically designs two showhomes. She said: “We like to ensure that there’s a good selection of our house types for all potential purchasers to view.” Each show home presents to visitors the superb quality and design of a Llanmoor Home, and Tracey’s interiors leave people inspired to start designing their own.
When it comes to interior design, Tracey enjoys experimenting and dabbles in different themes. She said: “I don’t have a signature style. I like to mix it up between doing an on trend look or having a bit of fun and creating a theme.” Her past themes have included ‘Out of Africa’, ‘By the Sea’, and Moroccan.
For Tracey, inspiration comes from many sources: “Interior Instagram accounts inspire me more than most famous designers, as their work is more achievable and liveable.” This is the look that she aims to deliver in the showhomes, “I try to style them in an affordable but on trend style that I think our customers would be more inspired by.”
Designing a show home can be testing at times, Tracey said: “The biggest challenge I face is the timing and ensuring that the show home is ready for the official opening day. I generally have a two-week window to get everything I have purchased into the property, built, and dressed for viewing. Unfortunately, there are occasions where despite placing orders well ahead, on unpacking I am faced with failed deliveries, or missing and damaged items that result in me having to have a major re-think and often a complete re-plan of my ideas, but I haven’t missed an opening day yet!”
Tracey has been the mastermind behind all of our showhomes, her latest design being the ‘Frampton’. A truly stunning family home that features 4 bedrooms and a spacious kitchen/ dining room. For those that have fallen in love with her design, there is always the option to purchase the show home when the development comes to an end, which has its own advantages. Tracey said: “Not only are all the carpets, curtains, lighting, turfing and planting all included but you are also able to purchase some or all of the furniture at a very attractive cost.”
With a range of show homes under her belt, Tracey has a breadth of knowledge. She said: “The best advice I can give is to look at different styles on Instagram and Pinterest to get an idea of what styles you like. Visiting show houses is great too, as they give you an idea of what you can fit in to your space. Furniture showrooms can also have great displays; you can find inspiration everywhere.”
Tracey is something of an Instagram whiz, with her account @greys_victorian_home proving popular. Instagram can be a brilliant platform for finding ideas and designs that are affordable to recreate. However, Tracey doesn’t recommend following a trend simply because its popular on Instagram: “My advice is to find what suits you and make sure you always stick to your own style.”
We continue to grow, Tracey said: “We have a number of very exciting projects in the pipeline. Some of which are located in areas that the company has not built in previously. These developments will offer a wide range of home designs for both open market sale and affordable housing. Announcements will be made as to these projects in the coming months. Look out also for the companies brand new and rebranded website.”
